Inventory of Recreational Facilities —
DESCRIPTION OF RECREATIONAL FACILITIES BY TYPE
This section of the inventory describes the recreational facilities in the Primary Zone, in the Secondary Zone, and directly adjacent to the Legal Delta by type. The same data collection methodology used to prepare the geographic description of recreation facilities (county by county) was used for this section (see attached list of sources). The written descriptions are followed by charts and by maps which illustrate the location of the recreation facilities deltawide. In the charts, the facilities are grouped by County. The types of facilities are listed in alphabetical order.
Large Marinas: Over 200 Berths
The inventory includes 21 large marinas; eight in the Primary Zone, 11 in the Secondary Zone, and two outside the Legal Delta. Of the large sized marinas, three are public marinas: Sacramento Marina, Antioch Marina, and Pittsburg Marina. The large marinas are fairly equally distributed between Contra Costa (eight), Sacramento (six), and San Joaquin (six) Counties. One large marina is located in Solano County.
Of the eight marinas in Contra Costa County, all but one are located in the Secondary Zone in Antioch, Oakley, Hotchkiss Tract, Bethel Island, and Discovery Bay. The Holland Riverside Marina with 232 berths is located in the Primary Zone on Holland Tract. The large marinas range in size from 203 to 722 berths.
The six large marinas in Sacramento County range in size from 160 to 553 berths. Four large marinas are located in the Primary Zone, all on Andrus Island. One large marina is located in the Secondary Zone in Isleton. One large marina, the Sacramento Marina, is located outside the Legal Delta in the City of Sacramento.
There is one large marina in Solano County, the Delta Marina in Rio Vista just outside the Legal Delta.
There are a total of 6,702 berths in the 21 large marinas: 2,089 in the Primary Zone; 3,785 in the Secondary Zone; and 828 outside the Legal Delta.
