  9. Authorize CALFED Committee to Prepare Comments on Revised Applications to CALFED for Ecosystem Restoration Grants (For Commission Action)
    1. Four revised grant applications are due in November with comments due to CALFED before Christmas. In order to submit comments, the Commission should consider delegating responsibility to the CALFED Committee.
  10. Request for Support for Amendment to CALFED Ecosystem Restoration Grant to Allow The Nature Conservancy (TNC) to Acquire Wildlife-Friendly Agriculture Easements in East Delta Ecozone (For Commission Action)
    1. TNC applied for and received a grant in 2001 to acquire easements and fee title lands in the watershed of the Mokelumne River in support of the Cosumnes Preserve. The original application was for work in the Eastside Tributaries Ecozone, east of the Legal Delta. TNC seeks permission to acquire wildlife-friendly agriculture easements in the East Delta Ecozone.
  11. Briefing and Request for Support of Application to Delineate the Delta Primary Zone a State Conservation Priority Area for the Federal Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program (CREP) (For Commission Action) The Commission will receive a briefing and determine if should prepare a letter of support for the Application to delineate the Delta Primary Zone a State Conservation Priority Area.
  12. Briefing on Natural Resources Conservation Service's Wetland Reserve Program (For Commission Information Only)
    1. NRCS staff will brief the Commission on the WRP program in the Delta. The WRP program is deemed by CALFED as a program related to the CALFED program, but not one that directly carries out the Record of Decision objectives (Category B Program). The program was recently reauthorized in the 2002 Farm Bill with substantial additional funding.
  13. Briefing on Sacramento River Corridor Planning Forum (For Commission Information Only)
    1. Nine local and state agencies are working together to study the Sacramento River from the Fremont Weir to the north to Courtland to the south. The Commission's staff has been invited to participate on the Forum.
