- Briefing on Acquisition of
Property on Orwood Tract, Contra Costa County, East Bay Regional Park District. (For Commission Information Only)
- East Bay Regional Park District recently purchased a 276-acre parcel on Orwood
- Tract for future development for open space and park purposes. The site is in the Primary Zone of the Delta. EBRPD staff will brief the Commission on the future planning process.
- Application to Designate a Delta
Resource Conservation and Development Program(For Public Hearing and Commission Action)
- The Commission will consider and possibly act to direct staff to submit an application on behalf of the Steering Committee that the U.S. Secretary for Agriculture, Ann Veneman, designate a Resource Conservation and Development Area in the Delta and authorize funding for staff to support the Resource Conservation and Development Council. Three public workshops have been held. The Commission's Agriculture Committee and others serving as the Steering Committee have reviewed the draft application and interim plan and made recommendations. The application is due mid-October.
- Staten Island Management Agreement
between Delta Protection Commission and Department of Water Resources (For Public Hearing and Commission Action)
- The Commission received a draft agreement at the July 2002 meeting. Minor changes have been suggested by The Nature Conservancy. The agreement will allow the Commission to monitor land uses on Staten Island.
- Review and Comment on Goals
and Priorities of CALFED Bay Delta Public Advisory Committee's Working Landscapes
Subcommittee (For Public Hearing and Commission Action)
- The CALFED BDPAC recently created a new subcommittee for working landscapes. Issues associated with mitigation for loss of agricultural lands, wildlife-friendly agriculture, agriculture chapters in regional implementation plans, and "good neighbor" policies will be reviewed by this Subcommittee and forwarded to the full BDPAC and CALFED Policy Group. The Subcommittee is seeking input to its proposed goals and priorities.
- Review and
Comment on Proposed Interim Department of Fish and Game Acquisition Strategy (For Commission Discussion and Comment)
- The Department of Fish and Game has proposed as series of commitments and a process for Commission and public review and participation in DFG decision-making about acquisition and management of land within the Delta Primary Zone. DFG seeks Commission comment on the proposal. The proposal has been review by the Agriculture Committee.
- Review and Comment on Revised
Application for CALFED Ecosystem Restoration Funding: Dutch Slough Acquisition and Restoration of Wetland Habitat (For Commission Discussion and Comment)
- A revised application for funding has been submitted by California Coastal Conservancy and Natural Heritage Institute to acquire and restore wetland habitat on approximately 1,200 acres of land in the Secondary Zone, adjacent to the Primary Zone in Contra Costa County. The land, within the City limits of the City of Oakley is currently in agricultural use (dairy, grazing); the current owners hold a development agreement with Contra Costa County for residential development. The application will be reviewed by the CALFED Committee.
